About Us

After years of racing success, stunt action in a multitude of films and the envious position of @racingdriversam in the CarWow videos and social channels, Sam Maher Loughnan has launched the Drivetac Academy in collaboration with the Drivetac racing team. The academy is complemented by a hand-picked team of instructors and is run on a secure facility in the heart of the Rutland countryside.

The facility is now available teaching professional stunt men and women to drive, racing drivers to hone their skills and go faster and the general public and professionals to tactically protect themselves when out on the open roads or confined in an urban environment.

Ryan Lyndsey

Ryan has been racing for 24 years after starting in karting age 11 winning 13 championships during that time. After winning national championship Ryan moved up in to single seaters age 16. Over the next few years Ryan raced in Formula Vee, Formula Ford and Formula 1000. Ryan was offered a place on the Caterham F1 driver program and planned to compete in F3 the following year, but he was unable to raise the funding and Caterham pulled out of F1. Ryan then moved over to racing GT cars and Radicals competing in Britcar Endurance series in a BMW M3 GTR and BMW Z4 GT3, Dutch Supercar Challenge in Lamborghini Super Trofeo and BMW M3 GTR, South African Endurance Series in a Shelby Can-Am, 24hr Series in a BMW M3 GTR and the Radical Challenge. In 2022 Ryan finished second in the GT3 class in the British Endurance Championship.

Ryan started instructing in 2009 and is an A grade ARDS instructor currently working with various race teams and drivers in different series as well as manufacturers like McLaren and Lamborghini. Over the years Ryan has done a lot of drifting work as well as some competitions in South Africa and has also done some driving in a Bollywood movie and some promotional videos and adverts.

Conor Hegarty

Conor has been working professionally since 2010 as a Stunt Performer.

From been fully engulfed in fire falling out of boats to swinging swords on Vikings and Game of Thrones. Leaping from truck to truck at 40mph in Norway, to car chases and car rolls in places like Beirut and Morocco. All this and much more, all while teaching Precision Driving since 2011.

Conor’s proudest achievement was being Nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Awards in 2020 in the Best Fight Category.

With an established background in motorsport and engineering we set about the creation of our own race team in 2009. Originally competing in the BRSCC Fun Cup and Porsche Boxster championships, the team has expanded and diversified the portfolio to include the like of GTs, Radical sports cars and heavily modified production cars across a mix of endurance and sprint racing series.

During our time competing in some of the top championships the UK has to offer we have worked with several major manufacturers such as Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche to name but a few, and have won silverware in every category we have entered – including multiple championship wins.

Before the course, I would not have been confident enough to drive on set, but now I absolutely would!
